What
is Wellness Dentistry?
Preventive
Dentistry West Palm Beach FL
Let's say you become ill and decide to go
to your doctor for care. And let's say that you are treated and
you recover. That's just great! But what if you went to your
doctor when you were NOT ill and you learned how NOT to get
sick? That would be even better! That's what we call "Wellness
Care." And that's just what we do in our practice. We can
certainly get your teeth and gums healthy and repair any damage
just like any dental office can. But we go a step further and
show you how to avoid dental problems before they become
problems. We start with a very thorough examination. Most of our
patients say they've never had such an extensive examination of
their gums or teeth. We examine your bite and how your teeth
come together. We look for oral cancer, gum disease, signs of
wear on the teeth, and, in short, any problem that you might
encounter at a later date. We want to head off any problems and
make your teeth and gums healthier so you will be spending less
time in the dental chair!
A Healthy Smile, A Healthy Body
Dental Health Care West Palm Beach
We know that your oral health is not only
about looking your best. It's about maintaining healthy teeth
and gums. Did you know that the cause of most tooth loss is not
decay? It's gum disease. And recent studies have established a
link between gum disease and your overall health. The good news
is that gum disease can be treated successfully, often without
surgery. We want all of our patients to have outstanding oral
health. Our commitment to you includes paying meticulous
attention to all of your needs so you look your best and have
optimum health.
We Care About Our Patients’ Safety
Infection controls and universal
precautions protect clients and staff alike. Everyone benefits
from rigorous infection control – you, your dentist, and the
dental team. The cornerstone in a good and safe dental practice
is the element of trust. You should feel free to discuss this
topic with Dr. Cohen and his staff and receive a straightforward
answer.
Dr. Cohen and our entire team follow procedures recommended by
several federal agencies: the Occupational Safety & Health
Administration (OSHA), the Environmental Protection Agency (EPA)
and the Centers for Disease Control (CDC). These measures
include: disinfectant hand soap, gloves and face masks, chemical
disinfection of countertops and equipment, sterilization of all
equipment before every use, and disposable materials. We
sterilize all reusable equipment, including dental hand pieces.
We use an autoclave, a device that kills bacteria and viruses by
steam, heat and pressure.
The best defense against disease is information. The more you
know, the better equipped you are to make wise decisions about
your health care. The more you know about our daily procedures
and policies, the more comfortable you will feel.
